London, being as big as it is, offers a great number of different experiences, depending on which part of it you visit. Basically, London is comprised of a number of towns all connected to one another. The best of these towns to visit are:
Camden - Despite not being particularly visually attractive, Camden Town still manages to huge numbers of visitors. People like to go there to see its lively market and its large underground music scene. Each weekend, approximately 100,000 visitors go to the market to find objects that they would not otherwise be able to purchase in one shopping trip.
Covent Garden & The Strand - Host to a mixture of theatres, hotels and shops, the Strand, which is a wide street that runs from Trafalgar Square towards the City, is invariably thronged with people and vehicles. Off the Strand you will find Covent Garden which is filled with street entertainers like mimes, dancers and magicians, as well as with charming bars and cafes.
Chelsea - Chic boutiques, antiques shops and charming eighteenth and nineteenth century houses combine to make Chelsea one of the most desirable areas in London. Shoppers love the huge shopping center on King’s Road, where they will be kept busy for many hours. The Chelsea FC Premier League football champions also make their home here.
Kensington - The ideal place for shoppers and royal watchers, you will find lots of shops (selling everything from clothing to home-wares to antiques) and the gates of Kensington Palace. If you have ever wanted to see a member of the royal family, then this is as good a place as any. Even if you do not manage to see a royal, you will be certain to get lots of great photographs.
Oxford Circus & Piccadilly Circus - These are two of London’s most iconic sites and draw millions of tourists each year. Piccadilly Circus is a rather untidy, busy place, but it is a central hub in the West End of London and a common meeting place. London’s main shopping district is Oxford Street which can be best entered from Oxford Circus.
Soho & Leicester Square - Soho is one of the most colorful areas in London and is home to a fantastic pub, bar and restaurant scene and Leicester Square, which is right next to Soho, is where UK movie premieres takes place. You might be able to spot famous celebrities in these towns, so you do not want to forget your camera and something for them to sign.
Westminster - This is the town out of which the UK government operates, and you can also find the popular Westminster Abbey here. You will feel fully immersed in the city’s rich history as you gaze upon important buildings from each street corner. Taking a stroll on the streets of Westminster is akin to going back to when the United Kingdom was at its glorious best.
